Western Mountain Tanager Mug
"Elevate your sipping experience with our Western Mountain Tanager Mug, a handcrafted ceramic marvel that blends artistry with nature. Made from pristine white clay, this mug is glazed in a serene lavender hue with a subtle blue undertone, creating a soft and sophisticated palette that complements any setting.
The true artistry of this mug is revealed through the sgraffito technique, where I have meticulously carved and painted delicate wildflowers and a vibrant western mountain tanager bird into the clay. The sgraffito process involves scratching through the underglaze to reveal the intricate details beneath, resulting in a stunningly textured and visually captivating design.
The Western Mountain Tanager Mug is not just a vessel for your favorite beverages but a piece of art that celebrates the beauty of nature and the elegance of fine craftsmanship. Each sip transports you to a serene landscape where wildflowers bloom and birds sing, making your coffee or tea time a moment of tranquil enjoyment."
This mug was inspired by a personal adventure I had in the summer of 2024. I was driving down the mountain of Sawtell Peak in Idaho, and caught a glimpse of what I thought was a yellow swallowtail butteryfly (a big one) and when I stopped and looked back, I found it was one of the most beautiful birds I have ever seen: Western Mountain Tanager. The bird was standing on some wildflowers, just as it is on the mug.
